John Dooley and Joseph Jaco
Roll call

City council convened at the Greenview Park gym, Wednesday, August 2, at 6 pm for its District One evening meeting. Council members Tameika Isaac Devine, Anne Sinclair, and Kirkman Finlay were absent. Present were Daniel Rickenmann, Sam Davis, E.W. Cromartie, and Mayor Bob Coble.

Welcome

Council member Davis greeted the crowd and introduced Wanda Nunn , president of the North Columbia Civic Club. Nunn also welcomed the audience. Davis and Nunn invited their visitors to tour the complete facilities at Greenview Park, particularly the gym next door to the meeting. SC Representative Joe E. Brown of District 73 (Richland County) was attending.

Gregg Street

The civil engineering required for the Gregg Street bank stabilization was described by John Dooley , city director of utilities, and by Joseph Jaco, city engineer.

Rep. Joe E. Brown

Bus system and its DART service

Michael Stewart complained about inadequate availability of the DART service, the custom call vans needed by the handicapped, such as himself. Service stops at 10:30 am daily and resumes at 12:30 pm, shutting down by 5:30 pm. Vocation rehabilitation appointments are hard to make and to keep with such short-term and interrupted service hours.
