HGTV's Jim Parks To Make Celebrity Appearance

Jim Parks

Formerly a carpenter's assistant and the son of a civil engineer, Jim Parks is the host of HGTV's home improvement show, New Spaces . The show spotlights homes that begin as eyesores and end up as eye-popping examples of what a good remodel can do to improve the lives of the people who live in them. In his over 100 episodes in over six years, Parks has documented the dramatic transformations of old, outdated rooms into fabulous, efficient, and up- to-the-minute new living spaces.

"I've seen what homeowners go through as their personal space is first disrupted and then re-formed into something new," Parks says. "We've documented a lot of triumphs (and one or two tragedies) on our show, but most often, we get to see the creation of space that is warm and welcoming."

Parks lives in a 100- year-old home in Evanston, Ill., with his wife, Linda.
