Henry Higgins and Eliza Doolittle entertain September 8
Contributed by
Town Theatre

Meet Henry Higgins, a brilliant, crotchety, middle-aged bachelor who is England's leading phoneticist, and Eliza Doolittle, a little cockney gutter sparrow who makes her living selling violets. From their first encounter on a cold March night to the moment before the curtain falls, their lives are entwined in a duel as he attempts to transform her into an English lady. The story is classic - the music is triumphant - the play is unforgettable!

The cast is exquisite with Scott Blanks as the irascible Henry Higgins and Erin Boyd as Eliza. Returning to the Town Theatre stage is a member of the cast of Town's 1989 production of My Fair Lady , Don Savelle, in the role of Alfred Doolittle, Eliza's colorful father.

Of special note is the resplendent set designed by Danny Harrington and the choreography of McCree O'Kelly. Coupled with the period costuming of Steve Soforic and Donna Harvey, the vibrant music under the direction of Janine Marsh and superb direction by Scott Blanks, My Fair Lady is a superlative show!

With "Wouldn't It Be Loverly?" "The Rain in Spain," "I Could Have Danced All Night" and "I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face," it's no wonder everyone - not just Henry Higgins - falls in love with Eliza.

Everyone in attendance on Friday, September 8, for the opening night performance is invited to join in a celebration of the beginning of our 88th season. We will adjourn to the sumptuous parking lot of NBSC for "high tea" (actually, champagne, soft drinks, and heavy hors d'oeuvres).

The cast and crew of My Fair Lady will join in the festivities and we hope the "rain will stay in Spain!"
