Louise R. Slater

The Humanities Council of South Carolina recently announced four South Carolina individuals, organizations, and institutions for this year's annual Governor's Awards in the Humanities. Among them was Cal McMeekin Jr. of Columbia. He is a realtor, former executive with SCE&G, and long serving board member of the Council. Also included was Marvin Chernoff of Columbia. He is a public relations executive and proponent of arts and culture.

The Columbia Business Development Club has a new marketing director, Jacque Riley . Founded six years ago by Jerry Fowler, Ron Lockhart and Dr. Matthew Miller, Columbia's Business Development Club has grown to accommodate five chapters and more than 100 members. They are all brought together by a desire to help each other do business and contribute to the community - in fact, they raised more than $30,000 for the Special Olympics in one night this summer!

May D. Peach

The Gillespie Agency is pleased to announce that Matt Wasicek has joined the Agency as senior art director. A native of California, Wasicek has many years of experience as an art director and senior graphic designer. He most recently held positions with Carlson Marketing Group, Parker Hannifin Corporation and the Los Angeles Times. Wasicek has handled creative for ac-counts such as Toyota, Mazda, Epson, Gateway, Giorgio Beverly Hills and Liz Claiborne.

The Price Group recently announced that May D. Peach and Louise R. Slater have joined the firm. In addition, the Price Group announced that Peach and Slater have been accepted as Associate Members of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA). Peach, a University of South Carolina graduate, and Slater, a Furman University graduate, will be educating and counseling families on a variety of academic opportunities, including boarding schools and college and university planning.

Dr. Manny Alvarez has been named artistic advisor for the South Carolina Philharmonic's 2007-2008 season. Alvarez will assist the Philharmonic (SCP) during its music director search. Once the music director finalists are named, Alvarez will work with them to create a balanced season with equitable conducting experiences for each candidate.
