Falcons defeat Shamrocks in mistake-ridden game
A.C. Flora 22 Eau Claire 6 Story and Photos by
Bolden Stadium must have very bright lights because the referees saw every little mistake made by A.C. Flora and Eau Claire Friday, September 22. Hardly a play was called that didn't end with a yellow flag. In the end, the Falcons prevailed 22-6. In the first quarter, Carlos McCoy scored for Flora on an eight-yard run. Then, Coach Robin Bacon caught the Shamrocks in a swinging door two-point conversion when Adger Rice caught a pass standing all alone in the end zone. McCoy, who gained 101 yards on 16 tries, scored another first quarter TD on a six-yard run. This time Coach Burton Able had his team ready for the trick play, so Grant Clayton kicked the PAT. In the second quarter junior Adrian Carmichael scored for Flora on a 28-yard run. Again Clayton kicked it through the uprights. Score at halftime: Flora 22, Eau Claire 0.
Flora gained 228 yards in the game to Eau Claire's 123. Flora's quarterback, Sims Tompkins, completed two of five passes for 25 yards.
