Columbia Stars of the week Eric Sephes, CB, A.C. Flora: Had 13 tackles, four pass break-ups, two interceptions (one he returned 64 yards for a touchdown), and a reception for 12 yards against Fairfield Central. Charles White, LB, Blythewood: Returned from injury and had ten tackles (two for loss), one interception, and one pass break-up against Chester. Chris Montgomery, RB/QB, Brookland-Cayce: Rushed for 113 yards, scored two touchdowns, and punted for a 40-yard average against Strom Thurmond. Russell Sutton, RB, C.A. Johnson: Had 107 rushing yards and one reception for eight yards against Pelion. Will Garnett, LB, Cardinal Newman: Had 19 tackles (two for loss), one sack, and one pass break-up against Richard Winn. Chris Payne, LB/FB, Columbia: Had 12 tackles (one for loss), and a QB hurry, and also rushed 11 times for 54 yards against McCallie High School in Tennessee. Payne is the only player on Columbia asked to play the entire game. Zach Cornett, QB, Dutch Fork: Rushed nine times for 96 yards and three touchdowns including one for 66 yards against Ridge View. Chris Daniels, OL, Hammond: Graded out at 90% with three pancake blocks against Porter-Gaud. Tyler Whalen, LB, Heathwood Hall: Had 15 tackles (one for loss), two QB pressures, and he scored a touchdown on offense against Hilton Head Prep. Mario Carter, RB, Irmo: Had 30 carries for 186 yards and two touchdowns against South Aiken. Nic Smith, QB, Lower Richland: Starting quarterback on the JV squad forced into action against RNE. Completed eight of 14 passes for 64 yards and no interceptions despite tremendous pressure from RNE. Kersean Wilson, QB, RNE: Freshman QB rushed 13 times for 133 yards and three touchdowns in relief of Gary Gray against Lower Richland. John Synovec, LB, Ridge View: Had 11 tackles (one for loss) against Dutch Fork. He leads the the Blazers in tackles with 70. Lyndon Ingram, RB, Spring Valley: Had 30 carries for 218 yards and two touchdowns, and two receptions for 27 yards against Hartsville. |
