Margaret Colvin Wilson and John McCabe Asay Jr. were married Friday, October 13, 2006, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. David R. Whitman performed the 6:30 pm ceremony.
The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Edward Wilson, is the granddaughter of Mrs. Dorothy Kelly Johnson and the late Mr. Jack Johnson; Mrs. Elizabeth Wilson Cook of Chester, South Carolina; and the late Mrs. Maggie Jewell Wilson. The bride is a graduate of Cardinal Newman School and the University of South Carolina with a BA degree in journalism. She is employed by Control Management, Inc.
The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. John McCabe Asay Sr. of Camden, South Carolina, is the grandson of Mrs. Helen Walsh and the late Mr. John Walsh of Georgetown, South Carolina, and Mrs. Mary Asay and the late Mr. Donald Asay. The bridegroom is a graduate of Camden High School and attended The Citadel and Augusta State University. He is employed by Valspar Corporation.
The bride wore a formal gown in diamond white silk. The gown which was strapless and designed with a fitted dropped waistline was accented with a wide champagne sash. Covered buttons and streamers flowed down the back of the semi cathedral train. The bride wore her mother's cathedral length veil that was embellished with Alenon lace trim.
The matrons of honor were Elizabeth Wilson deTreville, sister of the bride, and Kelly Monahan Prust. The bridesmaids were Dorothy Wilson Chocklett and Jane Owens Wilson, sisters of the bride; Lauren Asay Campbell, sister of the bridegroom; and Alice Ruth Joseph, cousin of the bridegroom. The junior bridesmaids was Kelly Elizabeth Davis, cousin of the bride. The honorary bridesmaids were Tamara Parker Bryan, Dargan Odom Davis, Katherine Fey Drafts, Raven Walters Gambrell, Katherine Ruth Jeter, Ashley Elizabeth Monts, and Nancy Alison Scott.
The father of the bridegroom served as best man. The groomsmen were Christopher Bailey Campbell, brother-in-law of the bridegroom; Kevin Harrison Culp; Henry Hill DuRant; Kyle Harry Eckenroth; and Benjamin Carl Spring. The ushers were James Bowman Chocklett and Paul Blake deTreville, brothers-in-law of the bride; George Bellinger Davis II, and William Bowen Hough, cousins of the bride; Jason Nicholas Finley; Michael Young Horton; and Bryan Dale Wappes.
The reader was Lynne Moluf Gilfillan and the greeters were Katherine Zimmerman Atkinson and Aimee Reynolds DuRant.
A reception followed at Forest Lake Club. After a wedding trip to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, the couple will reside in Columbia.
