The A.C. Flora Falcons (3-4) dominated the Blythewood Bengals (6-1) for three and a half quarters at the Homecoming game Friday, October 13, 2006. Coach Robin Bacon's strategy of battering the Bengals between the tackles led to a score after only four plays when Carlos McCoy ran it in from the 10. McCoy (5'6", 140, soph.) was also outstanding on defense, stopping Blythewood quarterback Richard Mounce before he could get started, knocking down passes, and recovering a fumble.
Aaron Mayes kicked a field goal for Blythewood when the Bengals were stopped at the 27. Dawan Thompson finished another punishing Flora drive with a one-yard TD run. At halftime Flora led 12 to 3.
Bacon began the second half running McCoy, Thompson, Otis Praylow, and Adrian Carmichael straight at the Bengal line. The momentum changed at 6:26 of the third quarter when the Bengal's Perry Wilson (5'9", 160, soph.) took a punt, slipped by one Falcon and raced untouched for 87 yards.

Mounce began a barrage of passes that was stopped only when Mo Holler executed the play of the night. Mounce threw to Wilson in the end zone. Six-three senior Holler leapt up, knocked the ball out of Wilson's hands, and while going down reached out of the end zone, grabbed the ball and pulled it in for a safety. At the end of the third quarter Flora led 12 to 10.
The fourth quarter belonged to Mounce who threw, ran, and kicked like his career depended on it. With 10 minutes left in the game, the 6', 190-pound junior reached the Falcon seven-yard line on a brilliant run. However, as a result of sacks and penalties, he soon faced fourth and 44 and had to punt.
Flora tried several passes and punted. In the deciding drive, Mounce ran, passed, and with six minutes left, completed a 10-yard TD to Marquan Jones. Blythewood led for the first time, 16-12. Flora failed to score and Blythewood survived a major scare.
McCoy led all runners with 138 yards. Mounce finished with 204 yards passing and 96 yards rushing. Flora's Sims Tompkins completed four of nine passes for 23 yards.
