City of Forest Acres receives settlement check

Mayor Frank Brunson presents a recently received settlement check to Forest Acres City Council.

A number of years ago a service station near Forest Acres City Hall had a leak in an underground storage tank which resulted in ground contamination. The contamination leached onto the property where City Hall sits, and the company was mandated to do clean-up. The contamination has long since been cleaned up, but the legal matter was just recently settled. Mayor Brunson announced at a recent council meeting the City had received a $467,558.46 check from the Exxon Class Action Trust Account in settlement for the expenses and damages to the property incurred by the City of Forest Acres due to the leak.
