The Wade Hampton Sertoma Club has joined with the East Columbia Optimist Club and the Masons of the Midlands for their annual barbeque, with monies going to the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of The National Sclerosis Society. This year, they donated $7,290.75, providing funds for research and treatment of the disease. Others donating goods and services to this project were Sam's Club on Forest Drive, AARO Rentals, and Walmart.
These three groups are now preparing for their annual smoked turkey and hams for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Funds raised will be donated to several youth charities throughout the state. For information and to purchase tickets, contact Chris Weston at (803) 606-9630.
The 2007 MS walk will be April 21. The five-mile walk starts and ends at the State Museum, and travels through the River Front Park. The 2007 barbeque will be April 20 and April 21.
