St. John Neumann Catholic School in Northeast Columbia educated students on the dangers of drug use in "blooming fashion." The Red Ribbon Week theme was "Plant the Promise" and students planted red tulips throughout the day October 26, 2006.

The week of education included:

+A poster contest celebrating the theme "Plant the Promise." Winners from each grade level received a gift pack courtesy of Riverbanks Zoo and Gardens. The package contained admissions tickets, Safari Dollars, and more. The posters will be displayed in the halls of the school.

+Week long education on the dangers of drug use.

+Red shirt day on Thursday for faculty and students to show their support of a drug free lifestyle.

+Tulip planting on Thursday morning with educational information about tulips, planting, and growth by Master Gardener, Kim Link.

All 407 students were dressed in red as they planted their own tulip bulb in the school's garden areas. In the spring of 2007, students and faculty will be reminded again of their promise to refrain from drug use as their tulips bloom and the "Plant the Promise" continues.
