Local amateur guitarists have come together to create the Columbia Guitar Orchestra (CGO), led by Brett Floyd and Casey Smith, students of Christopher Berg at the University of South Carolina. These local guitarists have worked on various styles of music by many different composers. The Columbia Guitar Orchestra debuts performing works that all music lovers will enjoy.

The group was founded by Marty Fort and members rehearse at the Columbia Guitar Academy. On Friday, November 10, 7 p.m., the CGS will perform at the Columbia Museum of Art, Lorrick Auditorium, in a benefit concert for the Columbia Guitar Society.

The concert will feature solo performances by Brett Floyd, Casey Smith, Marty Fort and the Harris/Knight Duo. The concert will conclude with the debut performance of the CGO performing works by Haydn, Granados, Albeniz and more.

Admission is $7 for seniors, students, and CGS members. General admission tickets are $12 and will be available the night of the concert only.
