The Renaissance Foundation will host an appreciation breakfast Dec. 1 for the students who designed the art work for historic Bethel last spring. Students from colleges and universities throughout the Midlands created murals to temporarily replace the stained glass windows at the historic building, which was designed by John Anderson Lankford, the first registered African American architect in the United States. The appreciation breakfast will be hosted by Ralph Gilles, vice president of Jeep/Truck component design for Chrysler. Gilles was born in 1970 and is considered one of the foremost auto designers in the country. He is the designer of the Chrysler 300C, the 2005 Car of the Year.
