Killian Elementary School starts outdoor classroom

Students, faculty, and community volunteers have begun work in transforming Killian Elementary's existing kindergarten playground into an inviting, outdoor classroom that will serve as a gathering place for teaching, learning, and sharing.

With the help of master gardener Melodie Lamprinokos, an appropriate garden design was developed to address the goals of the project, appropriately called, "Blooms, Birds, and Bugs."

Generous donations from surrounding nurseries and garden centers provided the initial "ground breaking" materials for the garden; however, more plants that reflect seasonal changes, stimulate the senses and attract wildlife are still needed.
