Alexander A. Korda Janice DiMaria wrote this poem for her dear friend Alexander A. Korder who died November 4, 2006. She read it at the celebration of his life November 12 at the home of Mary Gregory. Korda was Janice's husband Sal's captain in the Army at Fort Jackson in the 50s. They all remained friends many years.
If you are here today, you are an Alex Korda GROUPER We know that it will be a SHAD world, in SHARK contrast to a world with him in it. We may all FLOUNDER in the coming days in his absence, And other fishermen will now have to FIN for themselves. We know he believed that there was never a CRAPPIE day spent fishing, and with his energy - he could CAST a smile that was REEL rewarding, as he would WORM himself into our hearts.
He was never known to CARP about anything.. A SCALE by which we measure men, as he would TACKLE Any job to help another, as no one could LURE him from his family or his loves. The NET gain from his life - the memories we share Soon he will PERCH on the bank - sing a TUNA, And go out making WAHOO. For now, though, We must all CATCH AND RELEASE him...that he may rise On a TIDE of joy - to climb yet his highest PIKE.
- Janice DiMaria
