Hammond School senior football standout Carter Scott has verbally committed to Dartmouth College out of the Ivy League. Scott is the first player in Hammond School's 40-year football history to be offered and commit to play in the prestigious Ivy League.

Carter has averaged at least 100 or more tackles for three consecutive seasons making him the school's all-time leader in tacklers with over 400. A SCISA Shrine Bowl selection for 2006, Carter helped lead the state champion Skyhawks to top rankings in scoring and rushing.

In addition to his excellence on the football field, Carter is a member of the National Honor Society by virtue of his 4.05 GPA (weighted average).

Scott serves as President of the Hammond Class of 2007 as well as president of the school's chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He is also a member of the Diversity Council, Red Circle and Alumni Council Leadership groups. Scott has been named to both Who's Who in America High School Students and Who's Who in American High School Student-Athletes. He represented the Hammond School earlier this year at the National Youth Leadership Forum in Washington, DC.

Although recruited heavily by Princeton, Harvard, Penn, Columbia, Wofford, Washington & Lee, Middlebury, and other highly select national colleges, Scott says he is looking forward to playing for Coach Buddy Teevens at Dartmouth. Teevens is only 49 years old, but is a former coach at Stanford and Tulane. Teevens also served as the passing co-coordinator for Steve Spurrier and his staff at Florida. Scott initially caught the eye of Coach Teevens and his staff when he finished as the top-rated inside linebacker at Dartmouth's top prospect summer camp in late June.
