Wife swears husband in as president of RLI

The New Orleans new year celebration John McAllister Jr. and his wife, Judge Carolyn Matthews, shared late last year began a presidential term of office for the land consultant and broker. His installation was followed by cigars and cordials poolside.
McAllister will serve throughout 2007 as REALTORS Land Institute (RLI) President. His term commenced late last year at annual meeting in New Orleans, LA.
Held at The Marriott Convention Center Hotel, the installation was part of the National Association of REALTORS "NARdi Gras." The gala black tie event began with a reception and dinner, installation of 2007 officers, and inaugural speaker Jim Peters, CAE. Peters recently served as EVP of The South Carolina Association of REALTORS.
The RLI is an affiliate of the over 1.3 member National Association of REALTORS. It is the only branch of the REALTOR family focused exclusively on land consulting and brokerage.

McAllister recently participated in The Institute's Strategic Direction Workshop in Chicago where a draft Mission, Vision, Values, Goals, and Objectives was developed.
McAllister was designated by The RLI Board of Governors as one of only five Accredited Land Consultants (ALC) practicing in South Carolina in 2002. He is the immediate past president and a charter member of the South Carolina Chapter of RLI.
He served on The RLI Strategic Planning Committee, and participated in "The Chicago Sixty," the group responsible for the 2002 transformation of RLI, and is a member of the South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia chapters of RLI.
In recognition of his leadership the South Carolina RLI awarded him the 2001 Thad S. Cwik Leadership Award.
McAllister, originally from Mount Carmel, South Carolina, served as Southeastern federal power administrator from 1988-1995. He reformed John McAllister Realty Consulting in 2001 in Columbia, and serves as broker- in- charge.
He has over 28 years experience in the real estate profession, and is licensed to practice real estate in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Mississippi.
His practice is focused on plantations and timberland, undeveloped tracts of land, transitional and development land, subdivision and wholesaling of lots, and site selection and assemblage of land parcels.
Through strategic alliances with business partners with offices in Chicago, Denver, Houston, and New York, McAllister has access to resources to consult on over 72 classes of real property.
The Citadel graduate has been honored with The Alvah H. Chapman Jr. Leadership Award. He also was inducted into The Citadel Business Hall of Fame.
McAllister is also a graduate of the Executive Program of Professional Management Education at the Kenan- Flager School of Business, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Additionally, he is a graduate of the program for Senior Managers in Government at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
Prior to being installed as president of RLI, McAllister served as vice president. He is a member of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.
