The Richland Northeast Cavaliers sank five three- pointers and used a potent inside game to defeat the visiting C.A. Johnson Green Hornets 51- 29 Tuesday Jan. 2.
C.A. Johnson held a 5- 4 lead three minutes into the game, but after that it was all Cavaliers.
Chris Streater jumped started the Cavalier offense scoring seven of his nine points in the first period. His seven points matched the total output for the Green Hornets in the period and helped the Cavaliers gain a 15- 7 lead. The Richland Northeast zone defense took over in the second period. Russell Sutton's two- point jump shot at the 5:27 mark was the Green Hornets' only score.
LaBrandon Carmichael dominated the third period scoring six of his game- high 12 points. The Cavaliers held a 21- point advantage by the end of the third period.

Jamil Spigner added eleven points scoring three- point field goals in three of the four periods. Larry Sumter sank two more three- pointers, and Gene Utsey and Greg Anderson added six points each for the Cavaliers.
C.A. Johnson was helped by a couple of stand- outs from the football team. Kenneth Myers led the Green Hornets with eight points. He was the school's quarterback this past season. Russell Sutton was C.A. Johnson's leading rusher. He added four points for the Green Hornets against the Cavaliers.
Trent Weeks had a three- pointer and a couple of free throws, and Derrick Goodwin added four points for C.A. Johnson. D'Jay Moody and Barin Porter each had three points.
The Cavaliers im-prove to 9- 5 and will host perennial power Lower Richland Friday Jan. 5. The Green Hornets will face Pelion when they host the Panthers Friday Jan.12.
