Crayton Middle School honors its own
Mary Ann Odom has been selected as Crayton Middle School's Teacher of the Year for the 2007- 08 school year. Now in her 11th year of teaching and her fourth year at Crayton, Odom earned National Board Certification in 2001 and received recognition as Middle School Social Studies Teacher of the Year in 2003. She has a strong commitment to quality education and professional growth. Odom says she is living her dream of "wanting to be a teacher when she grows up." She likes to know she has done her best teaching her students "not only the required standards but to have also given them opportunities to consider the real world they are so eager to enter." Myra Davis- Branic is Crayton's 2007- 2008 Classified Employee of the Year. A native of New York, Davis- Branic has many years of experience working with youth. Prior to moving to S. C., she worked as a NYC Probation Officer for juveniles for 11 years. She is a graduate of South Carolina State University with a degree in marketing and psychology. She worked for the SC Department of Juvenile Justice in the John G. Richards Campus as an AOD Counselor before coming to Crayton Middle School. Davis- Branic came to Crayton in August 2004 as a security monitor. She became the ISS (In School Suspension) supervisor a few months later. During the past three years, she has helped students make the right choices by providing them with counseling and the necessary, structured environment. She has worked as a liaison between the student body and faculty by ensuring that students are provided work to stay on track with their classes.Davis- Branic still lends a helping hand to the security monitors and administration when not in ISS with students.
