Young lawyers help Cinderella get to the ball
Contributed by The South
Carolina Bar Young Lawyers Division

Local young lawyers are swapping their legal briefs for magic wands to make dreams come true for high school girls in Columbia.

The South Carolina Bar Young Lawyers Division (YLD) is sponsoring its annual Cinderella Project, which provides gently worn formal, bridesmaid and prom dresses for young women who lack the financial resources to buy a gown for their high school prom. The project is also being held in Beaufort and Charleston.

Clean dresses in all sizes- as well as evening bags and other accessories- are needed.

Donations are being accepted through Friday, March 2, Monday through Friday, 9 am- 5 pm, and may be dropped off at the following Columbia locations:

+ Sowell, Gray, Stepp & Laffitte (1310 Gadsden St.)

+ M Boutique (2820 Devine St.) or

+ The Swanky Boutique (10203 Two Notch Rd.).

A boutique will be held Saturday, March 3, from 9 am- 1 pm at the USC School of Law located at 701 Main St. in Columbia to give the girls an opportunity to shop for their dresses. Girls from all area schools are invited to attend.

The Young Lawyers Division includes all members of the South Carolina Bar under age 36 and those with less than five years membership.

The South Carolina Bar, which has a membership of more than 12,000 lawyers, is dedicated to advancing justice, professionalism and understanding of the law.
