The Service to Mankind Award is the highest award that Sertoma can give to a nonmember. Ronald Mitchum epitomizes the servant/leader, giving cheerfully and selflessly and inspiring others to do the same. He contributes his time and talents assisting numerous community churches and civic groups to raise funds by organizing and participating in various barbeque sales throughout the year. Epworth Children's Home, Carolina Children's Home, S.C. Commission for the Blind, and the Multiple Sclerosis Society have benefitted from his community work. He is currently the Grand Master of the Masons in South Carolina. Several years ago W. S. "Bill' Reamer was warded the Service to Mankind award by the Columbia Sertoma Club, and has since joined the Wade Hampton Sertoma Club. They have selected Mr. Reamer as Sertoman of the Year because of his generosity, organization and participation in club and community fundraisers that benefit the youngest members of society, the underprivileged children in the community. His will to serve and his desire to give are contagious, and he has been an invaluable member of the club.
