Bottle Club Show to be Feb. 16- 17

By Rachel Haynie

Harvey Teal has been a collector of all sorts of treasures for years. Every year, for the past 33 years he and colleagues have set up for the SC Bottle Club Show and Sale. This year's event will be Feb. 16- 17 at Meadowlake Park Center, 600 Beckman Road, near Blythewood.

"We look forward to seeing what the other collectors have found since the last show as much as we look forward to the public seeing it," said Teal, co- author (with Rita Foster Wallace) of The South Carolina Dispensary & Embossed SC Whiskey Bottles & Jugs, 1865-1915.

The advance buzz for this year includes appearances of face jugs by the Edgefield pottery, Dave, and unusual bottles that have surfaced since the last meeting.

In addition to bottles of all kinds, small antiques and collectibles will be on view and for sale. Vendors from throughout the region, and as far away as Florida and Tennessee will be setting up their wares for the event.

The show opens Friday, Feb. 16 at noon and runs until 6 pm; on Saturday, the show hours are 9 am to 1 pm.

Admission is a donation to the Boys & Girls Club.
