Lower Richland Diamond Hornet girls basketball coach Debbie Stroman and Dorman Cavalier coach Joy Couch met at the S.C. High School League headquarters Wednesday, Feb. 28 for a press conference. They will meet again Friday, March 2 at 7 pm at the Colonial Center to determine the class 4A girls basketball state champion for the second time in two years.
The Diamond Hornets are the defending champion while this will be the Cavaliers' fifth straight trip to the final. Before Lower Richland beat them last year, the Cavaliers had won three straight championships.
Dorman returns only one starter, Bailey Dewart, from last year's team while LR returns four; Dayshaun Richbow, Katrina Muller, Morgan Stroman, and Fannie Goodwin.
The Diamond Hornets beat South Florence, Orangeburg- Wilkinson, Sumter (OT), and Goose Creek to make the final. The Cavaliers defeated Easley, Lexington, Rock Hill, and Spartanburg to earn a trip to Columbia.
