Good man missing: John Forrester dies at 79
John Forrester, seen here last October off Garner's Ferry Road, was the owner of what everybody called the Capital Café on Main Street's first block in front of the State Capitol. The telephone book, however, called it the "Capital Restaurant" because Forrester's friend and sign painter painted the name "Capital Restaurant" on Forrester's window in Forrester's absence one afternoon. The painter was recently let out of prison thanks to Forrester's intervention, and he wanted to thank Forrester for tapping his many influential connections. Forrester made food out of recipes and friends out favors, and he was a whole lot better at the latter. We miss you, John.
