Letter to the Editor Signing Day at Hammond
As the parents of Carter Scott, who committed to Dartmouth College of the Ivy League, we would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank Hammond School, its wonderful administration and faculty, and particularly its football coaches and Carter's football teammates for a most memorable career capped off by the 2006 undefeated State Championship season. As the first Hammond football player ever to commit to play football in the prestigious Ivy League, Carter's signing commitment to Dartmouth belongs to and must be shared with his wonderful teachers, dedicated coaches and loyal teammates and classmates, with whom he has formed a lifetime of special friendships. As a point of clarification with the school's article, Dartmouth College, as a senior member of the Ivy League, admits its new classes on a need- moot basis; and as such slightly more than half of its undergraduates receive awards of financial assistance in conjunction with their admission and studies. Conversely, slightly less than half of its undergraduates, such as Carter, are not admitted with nor will they receive any financial assistance of any kind as the college expects and requires them to utilize family resources for their college costs at Dartmouth. Thank you for your most outstanding coverage of this important event in the annuals of Hammond School and its student- athletes.
Ron and Debbie Scott
