Pets receive Meals on Wheels
Contributed by Meals on Wheels Association
of America

Set another place at the dinner table! Pets are about to receive a freshly delivered meal.

Local recipients of Meals On Wheels who have pets can now receive pet food in addition to their meals. After discovering that countless senior recipients of Meals On Wheels were often feeding their food to their pets, something had to be done. The Season of Suppers initiative was thus born between the Meals On Wheels Association of America™ and Banfield, The Pet Hospital™.

The national effort collected more than one million pounds of pet food during November and December.

"Pets are the only companions that some of the homebound seniors who receive Meals On Wheels have," said Enid A. Borden, CEO of the Meals On Wheels Association of America. "So ensuring that they also get the meals they need to stay healthy is very important."

Special community volunteers with Senior Resources' Meals On Wheels program will begin delivering pet food to clients on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 11 am. Deliveries are also scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 18.

For more information on where these deliveries are scheduled or to make cash or pet food donations, please call Annie Eveleigh or Suzy Allred at Senior Resources, 803-252-7734.
