Barbara Railton Fanning Services for Barbara Railton Fanning, 64, were held March 29, 2007, at 2 pm at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church with burial in Elmwood Cemetery and Gardens. Pallbearers were K. Dale White, Phillip Byrd, Charles W. Smith, George Bunnell, Bill Edgerton, and Rufus Sherard. Memorials may be made to St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, Raise the Roof Building Fund, 900 Calhoun Street, Columbia, S.C. 29201. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. Mrs. Fanning, wife of James DuPre Fanning, Sr., died Monday, March 26, 2007. Born in New Rochelle, N. Y., she was a daughter of the late Stanley O. and Dorothy Elmyria Stehman Railton. She attended Columbia schools, graduating from Dreher High School. She retired from the State Museum as an assistant retail manager. Mrs. Fanning was a member of St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, where she was a member of Mary and Martha of Bethany Chapter of the Daughters of the King, as well as chairman of the Flower Guild. Surviving are her husband; two daughters and sons- in- law, Susan Fanning Nabors and Danny Nabors of Columbia and Sheri Fanning Edwards and Hammond "Scooter" Edwards of Columbia; two sons and daughters- in- law, James DuPre Fanning, Jr. and Cindy Fanning and William Stanley Fanning and Martha Fanning, all of Lexington; two sisters, Dianne Railton Bunnell of Telluride, Colo. and Debbie Chapman Edgerton of Lexington; seven grandchildren, Lee Nabors, Hammond Edwards, Anna Edwards, Grace Fanning, Sam Fanning, Madeline Fanning, and Jimmy Fanning III; nieces and nephews and a great-niece, Kahlich Hart. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Emma Fanning.
