Thanks to Sheriff Leon Lott and his department Dear Sheriff Leon Lott, I recently had the privilege of doing several ride- alongs with Deputies Wendell Gregory, Kevin Stegall, and James Forgione. I cannot begin to tell you what a new and deep appreciation I have gained from these experiences. I was truly amazed at the patience, calmness, and politeness, and professionalism they displayed under some of the most difficult, dangerous, and bizarre circumstances. I believe your deputies should be praised for the work they do, and even more so, for the way they do it. I am still in awe of how well they handled the most difficult (incredibly difficult) people and situations. What they encounter 24/7 is a world most of us don't even know exists outside our doors. Much of the reason they handled themselves admirably in the field is directly related to you. Without exception, the officers truly hold you in high regard. You can be proud and should be. I attended the Citizens Police Academy that began in July, 2006, and joined the Alumni Association. I would encourage anyone who has the desire to help themselves, their neighborhood, and their city, to attend. Citzens would be amazed to find out how many ways they can volunteer and be of assistance and how much help is needed and appreciated. I would like to thank Sgt. Frank Hinson who was so kind and helpful and made me feel so comfortable and welcome when I was feeling very unsure and out- of- place. There is so much more I could say. I will simply say thank you. Thank you so much for watching over us and watching out for us.
