Reader gives information about Robert E. Lee quote

The article on the website www.snopes.com/politics/quotes/robertelee.asp discusses the Robert E. Lee quotation mentioned in The Columbia Star March 30 edition.

The author appears to think that Lee probably said it but doesn't seem to have absolute proof.
