Part 3: Picking the wedding party
By Anne- Kathryn Bultman

Girl knows too many people. Boy and Girl have made progress in planning the wedding. The next step can be easy and difficult all at the same time. Picking the members of the wedding party usually proves to be more difficult for Girl.

Boy's side of the wedding party usually consists of brothers, cousins, or very close friends. He can easily name off whom he is going to ask to be groomsmen and doesn't really give it much more thought. Things aren't quite so simple for Girl.

There's one definite Girl knows she will ask, her sister or sisters. If Girl is close to any of Boy's sisters, Girl might ask them to be bridesmaids. Maybe Girl was a bridesmaid for one of her friends and wants to include that girl in the wedding. That fills a couple of the spots. Now comes the hard part.

What about the several people Girl is friends with? How many of them should Girl ask? Will anyone get their feelings hurt if they aren't asked? Girl may also have several cousins who might be expecting the coveted golden ticket.

Girl is faced with two options. 1. Girl can ask whomever she wants to and run the risk of hurting some feelings. 2. Girl can ask everyone she knows and end up with 50 bridesmaids standing at the altar.

Boy tells Girl just to ask whomever she wants and be done with it. Girl tries to explain to Boy that she will be hurting someone's feelings. Boy says someone is bound to get his or her feelings hurt no matter what Girl does.

Girl decides that Boy is right; after all, Girl doesn't want a three- ring circus instead of a wedding party in her pictures. Girl decides to ask her closest friends, and hopes everyone else will be happy with her decision.

If not, then Girl doesn't want to hear about it.
