Heathwood Hall's Baker West goes up high for an overhead shot. West's victory over Hammond's Palmer Keenan (the longest match of the day) evened the team score at 3- 3, then his victory with Michael Rabb in doubles over Ted Lydon and Ira Usry gave Hammond a 4- 3 advantage.

The Heathwood Hall Highlanders took a big step towards the Region 2- 3A boys tennis regular season championship by defeating the Hammond Skyhawks at Hammond 5- 4 Tuesday, April 17.

The victory did not come easy though. The Skyhawks led 3- 2 with singles victories from Andy Greenberg, Ben Horst, and Ira Usry, but in the longest match of the day Heathwood Hall's Baker West outlasted Hammond's Palmer Keenan for a 6- 4, 7- 5 victory sending the match to doubles for a decision.

West then partnered with Michael Rabb to defeat Ted Lydon and Ira Usry in doubles play. John Burg and Will Becker defeated Ben Horst and Grayson Hart next to give the Highlanders the victory.

Heathwood Hall's John Burg won his singles match, then partnered with Will Becker to win the deciding doubles match over Ham- mond's Ben Horst and Grayson Hart.

Hammond's Andy Greenberg won in singles against James Rogers, then won in doubles with Palmer Keenan.
