The Cardinal Newman Media Center was the site of the Celebration of Women Tea Party sponsored by the PTO and hosted by Kathy Cole, Sallie Blackwell, and Ruth Ann Ingham on May 6. Kathryn Soltis, director of campus ministry and theology teacher, explained that the tea was held in honor of the Virgin Mary who was the Crown of Creation. Between 1:30 and 3 pm, approximately 20 women gathered for snack, tea, and good company. Gloves and hats were optional. Guests included Cardinal Newman Principal Jacquline Kasprowski, students, parents, grandparents, and school faculty and staff. Guests were treated to a variety of fine teas, confections, and some good old fashioned English scones. The beautiful floral arrangements that adorned each table were skillfully arranged by Catherine Sexton. The delicious food was provided by PTO members and staff.
This is just one of the many events designed to bring school and community together in a social setting. Cardinal Newman works hard to build character and community while educating its students in a strong catholic tradition.
