Contributed by MIRCI

Leslie Aiken, Paula Giugliano, and Tootsie Holland participated in the event sponsored by MIRCI May 5, 2007, at the Columbia Museum of Art.

Mental Illness Recovery Center, Inc. (MIRCI) held an auction/reception May 5, 2007, at the Columbia Museum of Art. The event in conjunction with a morning symposium and afternoon tours on the grounds of the Carolina State Hospital ("Bull Street") presented an opportunity to honor past, present, and future mental health in S.C. Two featured presenters were Dr. Peter McCandless, well known author of Moonlight, Madness, and Magnolias, and Dr. John Magill, director of the S.C. Department of Mental Health.

Auction items were donated by individuals and businesses.

Since 1960 MIRCI has been helping folks on the path to recovery and stability. Providing outlets for social interaction, housing and support for the homeless, MIRCI is an innovative leader in the mental health community.

Dr. Richard K. Harding and Dr. Alexander G. Donald, co- chairs of Lighting the Way with Julie Ann Avin, executive director of MIRCI.
