Charles G. "Chuck" Marion III

Charles Gourdin Marion III of Swansea, who was known as "Chuck" to family and friends alike, died suddenly on Thursday, May 10, 2007, in Covington, Georgia, of a massive coronary. He was a partner in BC Movers & Storage in Lexington and had gone to Covington to oversee a move.

Born in Columbia on October 9, 1857, Chuck was the son of Charles G. Marion Jr. and the late Virginia Browder Marion. He graduated from Brookland- Cayce High School in 1976 and served his country with honor for four years in the U.S. Navy. He married Mellody Childs, daughter of Jerry F. Childs and the late Mary T. Childs, in November 1996.

In addition to his wife, Mellody, he is survived by a beautiful daughter, Christina Marie Marion, 24 years old; brothers Edward (Emilia) and Ray; and sister, Gayle M. Smith (Michael); three nieces, three nephews, and one great niece.

A memorial gathering of Chuck's family and friends is planned for Thursday, May 17, 2007, 4 pm- 7 pm, at the clubhouse at Governors Grant, 444 Oak Haven Drive, Lexington. The event will be hosted by Chuck's lifelong friends, Mickey and Debbie Manis.

Chuck's cremated remains will be interred beside his mother in the Gourdin- Marion family plot at the St. Stephens Episcopal Church in St. Stephens, SC, on Sunday, May 20, 2007, at 3 pm.

Remembrances may be sent to Chuck's widow, Mellody Marion, at 3520 Pooles Mill Road, Swansea, SC 29160. Flowers may be sent to Dial- Murray Funeral Home, 300 West Main St, Moncks Corner, SC 29461.
