Falcon JROTC wins superintendent's trophy

The Falcon JROTC cadets won the Superintendent Trophy Competition for the first time in eight years knocking Columbia High School out of their traditional position (they won the competition six of the past seven years).

The Falcons have placed 2nd to 4th most years.

The Superintendent approved the competition in 1999. It goes on all year with fivecomponents:

(1) Uniform Wear - five random weeks are chosen from October- March. Points are based on % in uniform during weeks picked. 1st Place for 345 of 375 points possible;

(2) District Drill meet - 5th place for 95 of 150 points possible;

(3) Physical Fitness (1MileRun) - 1st place for 100 of 100 points possible;

(4) Community Service - 5th place for 65 of 100 points possible; and,

(5) Academic Test - 2nd place for 80 of 100 points possible. Total earned points was 685, Columbia High was second at 675, C. A. Johnson was third with 610, and Keenan got fourth with 610. The falcons get a first place trophy to keep and get to display the huge rotating trophy until next time, and $1000.
