Jennifer McCormick will perform in Thoroughly Modern Millie this summer at the Thespian's Festival in Nebraska.

With college and a world of prospects before her, Jennifer McCormick has the next four years planned.

This summer McCormick will spend a week rehearsing Thoroughly Modern Millie in Wisconsin, and head to Nebraska to perform the show for the Thespian's Festival.

McCormick got her start performing in school productions at Richland Northeast High School and at Town Theatre where she first performed in Peter Pan . Even though it was her first show, McCormick had some help because her father performed with her.

McCormick's favorite performance, and her most recent, was in Agnes of God ."It was so interesting and deep, and I was able to use it for an Advanced Placement (AP) paper I had to write," McCormick said. "My aunt also made my costume for it."

As for what the future holds, McCormick will be a freshman at the College of Charleston this fall where she plans to double- major in theatre and journalism. She likes writing and wants to have something else to fall back on if she decides not to stick with theatre.

After college, McCormick will go to the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York.

"I will train for two years, and then I will have to perform in a showcase at the end of the training," McCormick said. "It will help me to be a step ahead."

McCormick isn't sure what she will do after her training at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy is complete, but she isn't opposed to coming back to Columbia.

"I was born in Columbia, but I don't think I'm good at being southern," McCormick said. "But I wouldn't mind living here if the New York theatre and everything they offer came here, too."
