Miss Fowler and Mr. Wang exchange vows on Pawleys Island

Mary Rutledge Fowler and Eugene Wang were married Saturday, June 9, 2007, at the Pawleys Island Chapel, Pawleys Island, South Carolina. The Rev. William P. Gause performed the 6 pm ceremony.
The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Pearson Fowler and the late Isabel Singleton Fowler, is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Richard Singleton and the late Mr. and Mrs. Wilton Baylis Fowler, all of Columbia. A graduate of Hammond School, the bride earned a BA in elementary education from Clemson university and an MA in education from the University of South Carolina. She is a second- grade teacher at Brennen Elementary School.
The bridegroom, son of Dr. and Mrs. Ke- Shin Wang of Columbia, is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Chi- Shan H. Lee of Oakland, California, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Shu- Chung T. Wang of Taipei, Taiwan. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, the bridegroom earned a BS in biology and chemistry and a masters degree in public health. He is a mortgage lender with Golden Gate Mortgage in Columbia.
The maid of honor was Caroline LeGrand Nelson. The bridesmaids were Anne Cooper Burnet Currin; Carla Elone Derrick; Anne Cely Fowler, sister- in- law of the bride; and Laura Chase Lee. The flower girls were Mary Wylie Singleton Fowler, Emma Chamberlain Kagel, and Gabriela Burnham Kagel, all nieces of the bride.
Eubank Wang, brother of the bridegroom, served as best man. The groomsmen were William Pearson Jr., brother of the bride; Brian Travis Hanahan; Mark Sperry Schmidt; and John Andrew Wheeler. The ring bearer was James Meade Fowler, nephew of the bride. The reader was William Pearson Fowler III, nephew of the bride.
A reception followed at Pawleys Plantation. After a wedding trip to Italy, the couple will reside in Columbia.
