Miss Ahern and Mr. McDermott marry in Saxe Gotha Presbyterian

Inez McLaurin Ahern and Steven Thomas McDermott were married June 23, 2007 in Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church in Lexington, South Carolina, at 6:30 pm. Rev. Leslie Holmes performed the double ring ceremony. Music was provided by Sharon Rattray, organist; Nikki Abole and Angie Smith, soloists.

The bride is the daughter of Glennie F. Ahern and Michael W. Ahern, both of Lexington. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Fowler and the late Mr. and Mrs. Dan Ahern of Taylors, South Carolina. The bride graduated from Lexington High School and the University of South Carolina with a BA in elementary education. She is employed by Lexington School District One.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William McDermott of Irmo, South Carolina. He is the grandson of Dr. and mrs. Frank Espey of Greenville, South Carolina, and Mrs. Richard McDermott and the late Mr. McDermott. The bridegroom graduated from Dutch Fork High School and the University of South Carolina with a BS in history. He is employed by CMC.

The bride wore a white satin strapless gown. The princess line gown was embellished with sequins above the waist. Pearls and re- embroidered lace garnished the border of the dress. The pearl and lace pattern was repeated on the flowing semi- cathedral train. She wore a two- tiered pencil edging veil that fell to the waist and slightly above the elbow.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents. The maid of honor was Della Ahern, sister of the bride. The bridesmaids were Elizabeth Ellis, Ashleigh McDaniel, Julie Monahon, and Laura Wedell. The flower girl was Clara Wilson.

Curtis McDermott, brother of the bridegroom, served as best man. The groomsmen were Daniel Ahern, brother of the bride; Jessi Near; Chris Arnold; and Alex Colmorgan.

The reception was held at Gibson Commons in Lexington. After a honeymoon trip to Jamaica, the couple will reside in Lexington.
