The S.C. Arts Commissions 2007- 2008 artist fellows are Philip C. Hutgren, crafts alternate; Marcelo Novo, visual arts alternate; Laura Kissel, media production fellow; Howard Kingkade, screenwriting fellow. The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation has appointed six local community leaders to its Columbia Community Advisory Committee: Mac Bennett, James A. Bennett, Henry B. Haitz III, Barbara J. Hamilton, Joel A. Smith III, and Inez Moore Tenenbaum.
USC's Walker Institute for International and Area Studies was selected by the American Association of University Administrators to receive the 2007 Nikolai Khaladjan International Award for Innovation in Higher Education. David L. Cull, MD at USC's Medical School, was elected to Distinguished Fellows Status, Society for Vascular Surgery. ETV's South Carolina Channel received its third Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in set design.
Ric Luber was named the new president and CEO for the Midlands Authority for Conventions, Sports and Tourism. Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough was nationally recognized by legal publisher Chambers and Partners in its recently released Chambers USA 2007. Chambers and Partners also singled out seven Columbia attorneys: Gus Dixon, Mason Hogue, Daniel Fritze, Sue Erwin Harper, David Dukes, Stephen Morrison, and Joel Smith. Susie Watson, RN, has been named Employee of the Year for the Midlands Regional Center of the S.C. Department of Disabilities and Special Needs.
Jennifer Mallini Lauer was recently honored with the Practitioner Award of Excellence by the International Public Managers Association. Bruce Stockwell, Jami Jordan, Susan Murphy, Jerry Kilgo, Tiffany Moss, and Michael Neal have joined Coldwell Banker United, Realtors.
The South Carolina Society of Association Executives
(SCSAE) named E. Sims Floyd Jr., CAE, Executive of the Year.
