Put yourself in your dog's paws
By MMiimmii Mm.@Msca.rdrd.coocmk

It's a beautiful day today, no rain, temperature in the 90s, a perfect day for a walk or a run with my best friend. Unfortunately, I have no choice but to go barefoot and wear a fur coat and wear a leather collar around my neck because I am a Canine- American. Leather against my fur on a hot day can be a bummer.

My friend always attaches a leash to my collar and holds it tight so I won't go in the street. I love my friend so I will do anything he says even if my feet are walking on pavement hot enough to cook an egg, no matter that I can't sweat so I can have air blowing against the wetness of my skin. My friend is carrying a bottle of water, which he sips every now and then but where is my bowl?

It is so hot. I am panting so hard. I feel my collar tighten. My friend is going faster and faster. I have to keep up with my best friend.

After a long time, he stops. Now, finally, I can have some water.

Oh, no! he wants me to jump in his car. I love to go riding, but I'm thirsty. He tells me, "We have to drive to the store for your supper."

I jump in and stick my head out the window. I love to feel the wind. My friend even lets me sit in his lap when he drives. I try my best to get that toy he puts to his ear that he talks to, but I can tell it makes him mad cause he yells.

He's stopping. Oh boy! I get to have some water. But he slams the door and leaves me. It's getting hotter and hotter and hotter in here. I can't breathe...

I'll miss my best friend.
