Leaders come together for Celebration of Education

Bruce Pope presented $10,000 to RFB&D f rom Nor thwestern Mutual Financial Network. Pope was honored with the money as the recipient of the Corporate Community Ser vice Award at their recent national conference. He chose to give the award to RFB&D.

Educators and community leaders met in a Celebration of Education at Alcorn Middle School. "Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic (RFB&D) provides talking books so children with perception problems still have access to the printed word," said Libby Anne Inabinet, state director of the program. The program began serving Alcorn Middle School in 2005 and according to Charlotte Berry, the chairman of the board, has served 4,200 students. According to Dr. Jim Rex, state superintendent of education, the program has been successful.
