Irmo High School dedicated the ROTC wing of the school to Colonel Pete Sercer September 19, 2007. Last spring, the school board of District Five of Lexington and Richland Counties approved the school's request to honor Colonel Sercer's 22 years of service to the community as a member of the staff of Irmo High School. This honor is truly befitting when one considers his service to the nation as an officer in the United States Air Force and his help for other educational and philanthropic endeavors across our state.
The school is placing a bronze plaque on a portion of the building. The bronze provided by the booster club reads "in honor of your 22 years of service to Irmo High School and a lifetime of service to our country. To Colonel Peter E. Sercer, Ed.D. (USAF, ret.)"
