Richland One congratulates the 10 winners of the 2007 Great Friend of Afterschool Awards, which are presented to individuals, businesses, and organizations that have been outstanding supporters of Richland One afterschool programs.
The 2007 honorees included Men United in Christ, Richland One Division of Financial Services, the Columbia Chaper of Links, Richland One Division of Safety and Emergency Services, Richland One Division of Curriculum and Instruction, Dr. A.V. Strong of " A Better Way" project, City Year Columbia, Temple Ligon, Trinity Episcopal Church, and Joanna Marcy of the University of South Carolina.
Winners were announced in September at the Afterschool Convocation hosted by the district's Office of Extended Day Programs. The event was attended by hundreds of students, parents and supporters including State Superintendent of Education Jim Rex, Richland One Superintendent Dr. Allen Coles, Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott and National After-school Alliance representative Sidd Vivek.
