Belinda Gergel, Columbia City Council candidate for District 3, was the honored guest October 24 at a political fundraiser in support of her campaign. The venue was the top floor of the Meridian Building, home of Nelson Mullins, S.C.'s largest law firm.
Meanwhile, at Tom Peacock's home on Westminster, there was another fundraiser for Brian Boyer, also a candidate for Columbia City Council District 3.
The third candidate for District 3, Reed Swearingen, is actively soliciting contributions while declaring himself independent of the influence he fears might attach itself with the money.
Among the three, moneywise, Gergel holds the lead. The incumbent, Anne Sinclair, is not running for re- election.
The election is April 1.
