Miss Burriss and Mr. Thornton exchange vows November 3, 2007
Louisa Richards Hay Burriss and Brian Andrew Thornton were married Saturday, November 3, 2007, at 7 pm in Eastminster Presbyterian Church. The double- ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Dr. Francis McMaster Burriss.

The bride is the daughter of the Rev. Dr. and Mrs. Francis McMaster Burriss of Chapin, South Carolina. Her maternal grandparents are Mrs. Edward Alexander Stevens and the late Lt. Col. Edward Alexander Stevens. Her paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Moffatt Burriss Sr., and the late Mrs. Louisa Hay Burriss. The bride graduated from Chapin High School and the University of Georgia with a BA in Business Administration. She is employed by RaceTrac Petroleum, Inc. as a real estate representative.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Stanley Thornton. His maternal grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Joeseph Edward Ferree Jr., of Rome, Georgia. His paternal grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Donald Grisby Thornton of Columbia. He graduated from Woodstock High School and the University of Georgia with a BA in Business Administration. He is employed by RaceTrac Petroleum, Inc. as a real estate manager.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents. She wore an ivory silk Mika- do a- line strapless gown with a natural waist that was accented with ivory silk taffeta. The gown had reembroidered imported Alençon lace on both the bodice and the skirt. The skirt was full and extended out to a chapel- length train. The bride wore her mother's cathedral- length mantilla made of Alençon lace and English net.

The matron of honor was Mrs. Elizabeth Teal. The bride's attendants were Mrs. Alle Denny, Rachel Burriss, Mrs. Joy Ellis, Lindsey Gunnels, Mrs. Elizabeth Knott, and Jessica Montgomery.

The father of the bridegroom served as best man. Groomsmen were Brian Delaney, Justen Giambalvo, Christian Lauter, Robby Posener, John Tellegen, and Mark Tellegen.

The reception was held at Spring Valley Country Club. The couple plans a honeymoon to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
