Richland Northeast's Model UN team scores big win at year's first competition

The Richland Northeast High School Model UN team started the season with a bang, winning an overall award for outstanding small delegation as well as 13 individual awards at the University of Virginia conference.
The team of 30 delegates representing Germany, South Africa, Bangladesh and Tanzania debated world issues with more than 70 other delegations and 800 other students.
Individual winners were Best Delegation, Tre'vell Anderson and Emily Padget; Outstanding delegation, Jessie Johnson and John Parvin, and Leacy Burke; Honorable mention, Hallie Carde, Mohammed Alshareef and Will Pettibone; verbal commendations, Rachel Lourie and Katherine Rieck, Caroline Corley, Connie Ding, and Paul White.
RNE Model UN co- presidents are Francie Berger and Caroline Corley. The secretary is Leacy Burke. Also members of Model UN are Katie Burke, Quentin Cox, Jemimah Ekeh, Karen Ekeh, Shayna Jenkins, Elyse Kriegshaber, Maggie Lawrence, Karen Magsino, Ali Marrero, Lydia Meadows, Kate Nielsen, Darby Shuler, Kelsey Stiegal, Jack Strange, Whitney Tisdale, and David Wile. Faculty advisor is Lynn Washington, who led the team to 18 straight first- place wins at the national Model UN conference held annually in New York in March.
