A first for the Richland County Tax Sale
Mobile homes will be sold in December 3 Tax Sale

Richland County Treasurer David Adams announced that next week Richland County will sell mobile homes for delinquent taxes. The Richland County tax sale begins on Monday, December 3.

Mobile homes have never before been sold at a tax sale in Richland County.

"This is a fairness issue. From property, business, vehicles and now mobile home taxes, we have concentrated our efforts to achieve fairness in collecting taxes," Adams said. "For some Richland County tax cheaters, this will be a tough wake- up call."

In the last five months, the Richland County Treasurer's Office's intense collection efforts have yielded an additional $271,000 in delinquent mobile home taxes. By the end of 2007, it is expected those efforts will add more than $700,000 in additional revenue over 2006.

"For years, decades even, some residents have not paid their fair share knowing that Richland County would not enforce collections on their property. Not anymore," Adams concluded. "We're not going to let a few folks cheat the majority of taxpayers who do their duty and play by the rules."

The Richland County Treasurer's Office expects approximately 400 mobile homes will be sold in next week's tax sale. For a list of all properties in next week's tax sale and for a description of the tax sale process, go to www.rcgov.us/departments/ treasurer.
