Lower Richland barber celebrates 80th birthday

Photo by Warner Montgomery The children of Herbert Daniel "Danny" Sosbee Sr. hosted his 80th birthday dinner November 10, 2007, at the Eastover Masonic Lodge. Fifty relatives and friends attended. Pictured above are (l-r) Linda Sosbee, Barbara Motley, Danny Sosbee Sr., Donna Sosbee, and Danny Sosbee Jr.

Sosbee was born in Watkinsville, Ga. He joined the U.S. Army at age 18 and served in Korea. After 20 years of military service, he retired. Danny and his wife, Ruth Brooks, and their three children settled in Horrell Hill.

The Lower Richland Barber Shop was established by Sosbee in 1966 and has been an unofficial communications center for the community ever since.
