Santa is teaming up with PETS, Inc. to give 20 dogs and 20 cats new families for Christmas. PETS, Inc., the Midlands largest pet rescue organization wants to make the holidays happier for some special families and deserving shelter bound pets.
"All too often, affectionate and wellbehaved mixed- breed dogs and cats are overlooked at adoption centers. These dogs and cats love to have someone to snuggle with at Christmas time. Many families would like to have a pet, but the cost of adoption and healthcare hold them back," said Jane Brundage, co- founder of PETS Inc.
This year, PETS, Inc.will offer free adoptions to families with special needs who might not otherwise be able to adopt.
"This is a big decision for us. We need the money that comes from adoptions to help pay for the animals in our care, but we know this is the right thing for these deserving animals and the loving families that will adopt," said Brundage.
All animals will be spayed or neutered and vaccinated. Dogs have been tested for heartworms and cats for feline leukemia and FIV/Aids. Microchips and visible identification tags with lifetime registration are provided. PETS, Inc. will also include a 30- day pet health insurance policy for each animal.
"Anyone with special circumstances should contact us. We know there are people who would be a blessing to a lonely dog or cat but simply aren't able to take on the financial burden of purchasing a pet and providing it with the necessary healthcare," said Brundage.
Santa will be at PETS, Inc. on Orchard Drive in West Columbia Friday, December 14 to give the lucky dogs and cats to their new guardians.
