$1 million added to county revenue

Richland County Treasurer David Adams announced a new collection program added more than $1 million in revenue for the County in 2007.

The Richland County Treasurer's Office made it a priority to enforce mobile home taxes in 2007. The initiative spurred an 80.2 percent increase in mobile home tax revenue (over the previous year).

Mobile Home Taxes

Bills Paid Amount Paid
2006 6,938 $1,349,071.55
2007 9,743 $2,431,301.30

Of the mobile home bills paid in 2007, 3,307 were due for longer than one year, and 828 paid bills were more than five years old.

"Taxes should be equally applied for every taxpayer. I promised we would enforce delinquent taxes so everyone pays their fair share," Adams said. "The results of our efforts are an overwhelming success in moving toward the fairness that people expect and deserve."
